Local Employment
At ZCDC, we define local communities as people living in our Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas. Tier 1 community are those people living within the 40km radius from the mine precincts, while Tier 2 is made up of communities living in the rest of Manicaland District.
In our Employee Recruitment and Selection Policy we state that, “All locals whether skilled and non-skilled should constitute at least 60% of the total labour force in ZCDC to give prominence to local communities in terms of them benefiting from the exploitation and extraction of mineral resource in their vicinity. The company shall reserve at least 60% of non – and semi- skilled vacancies for such locals”.
Currently, we take pride in that 60 % of our total labour force is from our Tier 1 and 2 communities. This fulfills our endeavor of investing in human capital development and inclusive economic growth. Employing local people drives cost efficiencies and helps in our ongoing process of gaining and maintaining the social licence to operate.
