The Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) acting Chief Executive Officer Roberto De Pretto has revealed that the diamond mining firm is set to become number five diamond producer in the world.

Speaking to Great Dyke News 24, on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Thematic Committee on Indigenisation and Empowerment tour of the diamond firm in Marange recently, he said the company is set to produce 10 million carats by 2023 from joint venture operations with other companies.

“As ZCDC we will be looking at a number of a joint venture with other companies as well as some junior companies and that will create jobs and contribute to the fiscus and the benefit of the local community and ultimately for the benefit of the nation.

“We will come up with a strategic plan which goes in line with vision 2030 which his Excellency has articulated very well and you will see that by 2021 we will be starting to deliver 10 million carats per annum.

“These carats will come from our joint venture operations as well as new kimberlites deposits that we will be developing from a project phase and bringing those into production.

“That will make us number five diamond producer in the world and that will be a great achievement in the short space of time as ZCDC has been established,” he said.

“We have been operating since 2016 and already we are now showing how we can transform this natural resource which God has indulge in Zimbabwe for the benefit of the country,” he added.
